The Norwegian Red Cross presented the NYSS platform at the Geneva Health Forum this May. The Geneva Health Forum is hosted by Geneva University Hospitals and the University of Geneva with the goal of bringing together actors from all sectors of health.

Somali Red Crescent Society demonstrates how community-based surveillance supported early detection of Mumps in the Integrated Outbreak Analytics Field Exchange

Red Cross and Red Crescent capacities in community-based surveillance around the world were highlighted in the 31st edition of the Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness newsletter, with updates from Indonesia Red Cross (PMI), Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and Francophone Africa Region.

In July 2023 Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) volunteers detected and reported several signals related to fever and rash to MOH for case investigation. While testing for Measles came up negative, several samples did test positive for Rubella leading to advocacy discussions with the MOH and partners for the use of the combined Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine in the region.

The Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) and the Norwegian Red Cross have implemented CBS activities in several regions in Somalia since 2018.
