In July 2023 Somali Red Crescent Society (SRCS) volunteers detected and reported several signals related to fever and rash to MOH for case investigation. While testing for Measles came up negative, several samples did test positive for Rubella leading to advocacy discussions with the MOH and partners for the use of the combined Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine in the region.
