After her mother fell ill with anthrax—a serious and potentially fatal zoonotic disease—in 2011, Indonesian Red Cross volunteer, Bu Im, took action to prepare her village and protect them from further outbreaks.

Early detection, early action, healthier communities

From 2 to 5 October 2025, the Norwegian Red Cross hosted a Community-Based Surveillance (CBS) Emergency Response Unit (ERU) training in Oslo. Team leaders and epidemiologists from the Red Cross societies of Norway, Canada, France, Germany, and Finland gathered to strengthen their collective preparedness and response capabilities.
