From 2 to 5 October 2025, the Norwegian Red Cross hosted a Community-Based Surveillance (CBS) Emergency Response Unit (ERU) training in Oslo. Team leaders and epidemiologists from the Red Cross societies of Norway, Canada, France, Germany, and Finland gathered to strengthen their collective preparedness and response capabilities.
The training emphasized the vital role of CBS and the use of CBS RCRC tool Nyss in enabling local communities to detect, report, and act early to prevent or reduce potential disease outbreaks. Participants built practical skills to assess, set up, and implement CBS systems designed to support a Host National Society when public health emergencies arise. Importantly, the sessions incorporated lessons learned from the CBS ERU deployment in Comoros in 2024, ensuring that real-world experience informs future operations.
This international collaboration underscores a shared commitment to global health resilience and to reducing the impact of future outbreaks.
