INDONESIA: Community-based surveillance regulation approved by the President of Indonesia

In November 2022, a new community-based surveillance regulation (Permenko Number 7 of 2022) was approved by the President of Indonesia and launched by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs in March 2023.

SOMALIA: Community-Based Surveillance (CBS) in Mudug region

The Somali Red Crescent Society has carried out Community-Based Surveillance (CBS) in several regions in Somalia with the support of the Norwegian Red Cross. In Mudug region, where several outbreaks have been detected in communities by Red Crescent volunteers and reported to the Ministry of Health for investigation since 2021, the Red Crescent and the Ministry of Health have established good collaboration for early detection and response to infectious diseases.

AFRICA: New French-speaking Community-Based Surveillance trainers in Africa

The French Red Cross and the IFRC jointly organized a regional Community-Based Surveillance training in Dakar, Senegal from the 23rd to the 28th of January 2023. The training was attended by 24 Red Cross and Red Crescent staff in francophone African countries, with participants from 10 countries.
